The apartment is very spacious and has almost everything you need. It has nice views, the host is really responsive and there even is a parking space in the downstairs garage. In summer it is hot, but the windows can be fully opened. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

The neighbourhood feels very local, close enough to the city center to walk, but far enough away to be relatively quiet. Very friendly and helpful neighbours as well.

Pao e companhia is just around the corner and has a great bolo de berlim. Also HM Borges is really close to do a tasting of Madeira wine or a tour of the winery. If you like craft beer Fugacidade and the Funchal taproom are a must visit. For a Portuguese lunch go to A Tedinha, be there early (11.45) because there are just a few tables and it is quite popular.
