**Location:**
Martim Moniz is an extremely central but very working-class neighborhood. Be prepared for a lively atmosphere, with streets that are unfortunately dirty, smelly, and noisy. The area is active at night, with noticeable drug trafficking, which might be unsettling for some. Additionally, the noise from intoxicated individuals, late-night trash collection, and children playing soccer all day can be disruptive.


**The Flat:**
The apartment itself was adequate, though we encountered several issues during our stay. These included well-worn towels, the presence of ants and silverfish, a broken TV screen, a missing HDMI cable, a leaking shower, and mold in the shower seals. Fortunately, the landlady was quick to address most of these issues within 48 hours. Despite these prompt repairs, the overall comfort was still impacted by the problems we faced.


**The Landlady:**
The saving grace of our stay was the landlady. She was responsive, helpful, and accommodating throughout our time there. When we decided to shorten our stay due to the issues mentioned, she graciously agreed to a partial refund. Her goodwill suggests that many of these problems might be resolved by now.


**Overall Experience:**
Our experience was unfortunate, particularly during the peak season, but given the responsiveness of the landlady, we hope that future guests will have a more pleasant stay.

Neighborhood
Extremely central, but very working-class area with numerous nuisances. Might feel disturbing during the day and unsafe at right.

The house is located in a great area. It's small, but quite functional and has the essentials you need for a good stay. The only issue we had was the shower would leak and flood the bathroom floor, but the host said they'll get it sorted after our stay.

The house is based in a lively part of Lisbon, walking distance from most sights.

What I loved:
LOCATION! walking distance to Alfama and several central plazas. So much to see and discover. Several great restaurants up the steps!! This flat is nestled in such a central area. It was a great intro to Lisbon and gives you excellent access to nearby hubs of activity.

PRICE! Favorably priced for a great area. The apt itself is a very small space but is well resourced.
CLEAN! The place was clean and well kept. Came with towels and clean sheets and pleasant smell.


Things to consider:
NOISE: there is a community center adjacent to the kitchen/bathroom windows so you will hear kids playing football for 70% of your day. While it's endearing it’s, not ideal if you need a quiet space to work from home. Also, the walls are super thin so you hear everything.

AREA: Yes there are people who hang out near the entrance to listen to music and drink. No they are not dangerous or even remotely interested in you. When you arrive its straight up the steps to the right.

SHOWER MOLD: The rest of the apartment was very clean, but the bathroom door and grout had mold at base which was unpleasant.

COLD: Very cold indoors in beginning of April. There is only one tiny heater that we had to elevate to have a chance at warming our toes. If you come in summer you probably won’t have this issue because the weather will be warm.

HOT WATER: we didn't get hot water until day 3 and when it came it left quickly (after 3 mins) in the shower daily.

This is a good place for this money. A small but cozy place. The owner was kind.

The only thing you need to know before checking in:
- it's not enough to take a shower for two people in same time.
- there is not enough heater in the apartment (we bought an extra one to keep warm).
- Martin Moniz, the area doesn't look very safe. But if that doesn't scare you, feel free to book this place.

Very lovely flate in the historic center. Close to metro station and to touristic landmark. The host is amazing and helpful. Note that the building is historic so the isolation may be weak if you are searching for a very calm flat. Apart from that it's an amazing choice

The flat is located super central, and Joana is an excellent host, available and very kind and nice! Definitely recommended!

A bit loud but very typical! The flat is located at the bottom of the stairs that lead to a nice terrace with bars and shops

Landlord was very helpful and easy to get along with.
Place was tidy, clean and in great location (main city center).
5 min to main railway station and to a metro line.
Shop (medium size) is 3 min by walk from the apartment.

Neighborhood
We didn't felt safe as lots of homeless people were sleeping close to the apartment.
Otherwise location is great.

Joana, Marissa and team have been the greatest hosts! Responding to me quickly and rectifying any issues I had immediately. This home is in the perfect location, and the space is beautiful. Couldn’t recommend Joana or the flat more highly!
