Our Flat
Situated on a quiet street a stones' throw from Haymarket, this bright, homely two bedroomed flat is situated on the third floor. The living room has a bright bay window, large corner sofa, decorative fireplace, dining table and benches, and an alcove for books. You can also peruse recipes in cookbooks stored under our coffee table.
The well-appointed kitchen includes a convection oven, brand new ceramic hob, new washing machine, and fridge (1 year old). A food processor, hand blender and pasta maker are also available. We're foodies and our kitchen shows it!
There is plenty of cupboard and fridge space for all food shopping within the kitchen. The kitchen fridge contains a small ice box, which we supplement with a small freezer in the hallway cupboard for storing larger items and prepared meals.
The flat has a bathroom with a combined toilet and bath/shower. Being on the top floor the flat is nice and cozy, but all rooms can be centrally heated. Also available is high-speed broadband with WiFi. Two of us usually work from home here and very rarely have any internet issues.
The primary bedroom comprises a double bed, sizeable wardrobe and chest of drawers, bedside table and Georgian desk with ergonomic chair suitable for WFH. There’s also an ‘Edinburgh Press’ cupboard filled with a huge selection of books spanning genres and interests should you like to read during your stay.
The second bedroom has original wooden flooring with a double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. It also boasts a modern sit/stand desk and ergonomic chair for your ideal, personalised work from home set up. It also doubles up as a more creative studio-type workspace for arty types.
The hallway has original wooden flooring and a laundry pulley. If you have a ‘good drying day’ whilst here - there is also a washing line outside in the communal back garden. Just beware of Scotland's 'four seasons in one day' climate!
Our Neighbourhood
The flat is superbly situated in the West End of Edinburgh and is a 5-minute walk from Haymarket Station and 15 minutes walk from Princes Street. A 15 minute walk also takes you to the Water of Leith - a river walkway that runs through Edinburgh from south to north, surrounded by forest and green spaces. We like to walk there daily to stay healthy! Haymarket/Dalry is no more than 20-25 minutes walk from the majority of other central Edinburgh neighbourhoods, which allows for good variety in walks for breaking up WFH days.
The immediate surrounding area of Haymarket/Dalry has a wide variety of restaurants, including very good Pizzeria and Japanese restaurants at the end of our street. If you would prefer to cook at home the flat has a well-equipped kitchen and there is a large Co-Op supermarket around the corner and two Sainsbury's supermarkets within a 10-minute walk. If you’re arriving later in the evening - or need to pick up a workday lunch or weekend picnic before jumping on the train, tram or bus - the M&S in Haymarket Station is convenient to pick up lunch items, simple meals, ingredients and snacks.
There are two well-stocked wine and beer shops within a 5-minute walk and the Fountain Park entertainment complex is also 5 minutes' walk away which includes a Nuffield Gym, Cineworld, bowling alley and several restaurants.
We use the very reasonably priced Edinburgh Leisure fitness centre at the other end of our street which has a no-frills, but friendly small gym (but being a 1 min walk from the flat means you never miss leg day…), with a sauna and Victorian swimming pool.
Also, 5 minutes walk away is a bus station where the bus numbers 2, 3, 4, 25, 33, 44 stop. (Of note the Number 33 will take you to the hospital if (unfortunately!) required.)

Unsere Wohnung
In einer ruhigen Straße, nur einen Steinwurf vom Haymarket entfernt, liegt diese helle, gemütliche Wohnung mit zwei Schlafzimmern im dritten Stock. Das Wohnzimmer verfügt über ein helles Erkerfenster, ein großes Ecksofa, einen dekorativen Kamin, einen Esstisch mit Bänken und eine Büchernische. Sie können auch in Kochbüchern stöbern, die unter unserem Couchtisch aufbewahrt werden.
Die gut ausgestattete Küche verfügt über einen Umluftofen, ein brandneues Cerankochfeld, eine neue Waschmaschine und einen Kühlschrank (1 Jahr alt). Eine Küchenmaschine, ein Stabmixer und eine Nudelmaschine sind ebenfalls vorhanden. Wir sind Feinschmecker und unsere Küche zeigt es!
In der Küche gibt es reichlich Schrank- und Kühlschrankplatz für alle Einkäufe. Der Kühlschrank in der Küche enthält eine kleine Eisbox, die wir durch eine kleine Gefriertruhe im Flurschrank ergänzen, um größere Gegenstände und zubereitete Mahlzeiten zu lagern.
Die Wohnung hat ein Badezimmer mit einer kombinierten Toilette und Badewanne/Dusche. Da die Wohnung im Dachgeschoss liegt, ist sie sehr gemütlich, aber alle Räume können zentral beheizt werden. Außerdem gibt es einen Hochgeschwindigkeits-Breitbandanschluss mit WiFi. Zwei von uns arbeiten hier normalerweise von zu Hause aus und haben sehr selten Probleme mit dem Internet.
Das Hauptschlafzimmer besteht aus einem Doppelbett, einem großen Kleiderschrank und einer Kommode, einem Nachttisch und einem georgianischen Schreibtisch mit ergonomischem Stuhl, der für WFH geeignet ist. Außerdem gibt es einen "Edinburgh Press"-Schrank mit einer riesigen Auswahl an Büchern aus verschiedenen Genres und Interessen, falls Sie während Ihres Aufenthalts lesen möchten.
Das zweite Schlafzimmer hat einen originalen Holzfußboden, ein Doppelbett, einen Kleiderschrank und eine Kommode. Es verfügt außerdem über einen modernen Sitz-/Stehschreibtisch und einen ergonomischen Stuhl für Ihre ideale, persönliche Arbeitsumgebung von zu Hause aus. Es eignet sich auch als kreativer Arbeitsbereich für künstlerisch veranlagte Menschen.
Der Flur hat einen originalen Holzfußboden und eine Wäschetrommel. Wenn Sie einen "guten Trockentag" haben, gibt es auch eine Wäscheleine im gemeinschaftlichen Garten. Hüten Sie sich nur vor dem schottischen Klima der vier Jahreszeiten an einem Tag"!
Unsere Nachbarschaft
Die Wohnung befindet sich in hervorragender Lage im West End von Edinburgh, nur 5 Gehminuten von der Haymarket Station und 15 Gehminuten von der Princes Street entfernt. Ein 15-minütiger Spaziergang bringt Sie auch zum Water of Leith - einem Flusslauf, der Edinburgh von Süden nach Norden durchquert und von Wäldern und Grünflächen umgeben ist. Wir gehen dort gerne täglich spazieren, um gesund zu bleiben! Haymarket/Dalry ist nicht mehr als 20-25 Minuten Fußweg von den meisten anderen zentralen Stadtteilen Edinburghs entfernt, was eine gute Abwechslung bei den Spaziergängen bietet, um die WFH-Tage aufzulockern.
In der unmittelbaren Umgebung von Haymarket/Dalry gibt es eine große Auswahl an Restaurants, darunter eine sehr gute Pizzeria und ein japanisches Restaurant am Ende unserer Straße. Wenn Sie lieber zu Hause kochen möchten, verfügt die Wohnung über eine gut ausgestattete Küche und es gibt einen großen Co-Op-Supermarkt um die Ecke und zwei Sainsbury's-Supermärkte innerhalb von 10 Minuten zu Fuß. Wenn Sie später am Abend ankommen - oder ein Mittagessen für den Arbeitstag oder ein Wochenendpicknick besorgen müssen, bevor Sie auf den Zug, die Straßenbahn oder den Bus aufspringen - ist der M&S in der Haymarket Station ein idealer Ort, um Mittagessen, einfache Mahlzeiten, Zutaten und Snacks zu besorgen.
Im Umkreis von 5 Gehminuten gibt es zwei gut sortierte Wein- und Bierläden, und der Unterhaltungskomplex Fountain Park mit einem Nuffield Gym, Cineworld, einer Bowlingbahn und mehreren Restaurants ist ebenfalls nur 5 Gehminuten entfernt.
Wir nutzen das sehr preisgünstige Edinburgh Leisure Fitnesscenter am anderen Ende unserer Straße, das über ein kleines, aber freundliches Fitnessstudio ohne Schnickschnack verfügt (aber da es nur 1 Minute zu Fuß von der Wohnung entfernt ist, verpasst man nie den Beintrainingstag...), mit einer Sauna und einem viktorianischen Schwimmbad.
Außerdem befindet sich 5 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt eine Bushaltestelle, an der die Buslinien 2, 3, 4, 25, 33 und 44 halten. (Beachten Sie, dass die Nummer 33 Sie bei Bedarf (leider!) ins Krankenhaus bringt)

We recently both travelled to the south of France for a couple of weeks for vacation and work - and having used AirBnB - we hoped to try Flatio ourselves as it seems better suited to our needs! Wenn Sie eine Nachricht an Flatios Support-Team senden und innerhalb von 48 Stunden eine Stornierung der Reservierung ("Kündigung ab dem Startdatum") anfordern nach Inkrafttreten des Mietvertrags sind Sie berechtigt, das gesamte Geld, das Sie für die Servicegebühr gezahlt haben, zurückzuerhalten.
Nach 48 Stunden haben Sie Anspruch auf eine Rückerstattung der Servicegebühr in Form eines "Gutscheins" in Höhe der von Ihnen gezahlten Servicegebühr. Der Gutschein kann für Ihre nächste Reservierung verwendet werden und ist 12 Monate gültig. Absolutely loved this flat. It does fit 4 people, but it might feel a little crammed if you're not used to being in smaller spaces with people. I did spend a lot of time in the flat because it was so cozy and relaxing to stay in especially with the chaos of sightseeing. It had everything you needed to be comfortable.
I would not recommend to someone who has any issues with stairs because it is on the top floor. If you're not familiar with the UK, black mold is pretty common (plenty of cleaning supplies available), google the symbols on the stove, hang drying clothes is normal so plan laundry to allow for enough time to dry, and be aware of outlets having their own on/off switches.
Neighborhood
It reminds me to smaller neighborhoods in cities (like Astoria, Queens), where it's not busy, but everything is there.
Recommended places nearby
The Fountain, The Jolly Botanist, Wetherspoons locations, and Teuchters stood out to me. The Sainsbury's and Tescos were great for groceries.
