This lovely apartment is part of the Winepress Apartments of Quinta Mãe dos Homens Garden Village, a very charming self-catering holiday resort within the grounds of a historical Madeiran property, belonging to the heirs of the Viscount of Cacongo.

Beautifully located on a hillside overlooking the Funchal bay, and with superb views across the town to the harbour and the sea, this family-run unit is surrounded by stunning gardens, with beautiful exotic flowers and trees from Madeira's flora, as well as some cultivated land with homegrown vegetables and tropical fruit trees.

• SPACIOUS APARTMENT

The Malmsey Apartment has a spacious sitting room/ dining area with a full open plan kitchen, a separate double bedroom, a separate bathroom, as well as a lovely terrace overlooking the inviting gardens of the property and the sea. Accommodates up to 3 people with the use of sofa-bed. We can also add a cot and a high-chair if needed.

• LOVELY AMENITIES & STAFF SUPPORT

One of the best things about staying with us at the Quinta is that you can enjoy all the property amenities, from our wonderful swimming pool and garden areas, to private parking and a clubhouse with a communal terrace with WiFi coverage, where you can work or simply relax and meet with other guests.

The Quinta also provides you with weekly cleaning service with change of towels and linen, free of charge, and laundry service upon request with a minimal charge.

Our reception is open during working hours, where our friendly staff can assist you with any requests and even, for your convenience, book a great diversity of transport, touristic and entertainment services.

• CONVENIENT SERVICES NEARBY

Located in a quiet residential area of Funchal, you have two minimarkets nearby and up the hill a variety of convenient shops all within a 5 min walk. The Quinta is also only a 10 min walk down the hill to the east side of the old town, where you have a great variety of local bars, restaurants, and shops, as well as a shopping centre and the traditional farmers’ market. The airport is a 15-20 minute ride away.

• HOW TO MOVE AROUND

There is a bus stop right next to the Quinta, where you can catch a bus to the city centre, and for departures and arrivals from the airport, there is an Aerobus stop up the hill (5 min walk). You may as well ask us to book a transfer with our local partners, as it is cheaper than the taxis you find at the airport, or rent a car, bike or bicycle to explore the city and the island.

• PROPERTY RULES

- You are welcome to bring your well-behaved pets up to 5 kilos, as long as they are attended at all times.
- The pool is unattended and may be used from 9 am to 9 pm.
- Please remember this is a family home, only residents can use the pool and facilities of the property. If you have any friends that wish to stay over, there will be a minimal charge per night.
- Thank you for respecting your neighbours. Parties with loud music are not allowed and we request that you do not smoke inside the properties.
- Do inform us if you need to Check-in outside working hours.
- To park your car inside the property, please use the back entrance at Travessa Manuel Alexandre

Quinta Mãe dos Homens Garden Village is a small family run business and I, the daughter of the owner –
Mrs Teresa Gedge – have been managing this self-catering resort, located inside the grounds of our family home since 1998, happily receiving visitors from all over the world.

Our Quinta is known for its stunning views and gardens with exotic flowers and tropical fruit trees, that provide a lovely refuge to rest, work and live with privacy and serenity. As it is located on a hillside it is far away enough from Funchal’s hustle and bustle yet close enough to the historical centre (only a 10 minute walk down the hill) for you to make the most of your stay and explore the unique history and beauty of our city and island.

Also, for great delight of our guests, in 1992 we gave away part of our agricultural fields to build a beautiful swimming pool, as well a clubhouse and communal terrace with wifi coverage, where you can work, rest and meet with other guests.

Part of our family lives in the main house and over the years we have had many repeated guests who fell in love with the Quinta and became true friends. It is our hope that as so many others, you will enjoy your stay, not just for the natural beauty but also for the rich history of our home, as well as all the friendly faces you will meet here.

We are happy to open our doors to all those who are looking for a quiet home-like accommodation and we will do our best to make you feel at home and to meet all your personal needs and requests.

How can I cancel my booking?

How you can cancel a booking varies depending on what stage the booking is in.

However, suppose the owner has already approved your booking request, and you are no longer interested in it. In that case, you can still cancel the booking before you sign the lease agreement. Just consider that you should do this only in essential cases. Because when the host accepts your booking, the living space is stopped being advertised, and they can lose the chance to rent their property to someone else.

Do you have an approved booking and also a valid agreement? In order to cancel your booking, contact Flatio customer support well in advance of your contract beginning (the specific time and amount of refund depends on the type of cancelation policy).
